"My doctor said I would get an urgent appointment"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

I was covered in a rash and then thick crust of pus and skin – dry + falling off, bedding was washed daily.

My doctor said I would get an urgent appointment. I waited 4 weeks so my daughter phoned the Dermatology Clinic and they said the doctor requested a routine, appointment so they gave me a quicker appointment.

After seeing the doctor at the Dermatology Clinic I had to wait 3 weeks for prescription from my own Doctor. Once I had the cream, my exema cleared up a little within 2 days and I continued to get better.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of a recent referral with the TRAQS team.

I am sorry that your GP did not send your referral letter over to TRAQS as an urgent priority. UnfortunatelyTRAQS can only process referrals according to the referring GPs instructions.

Although your referral was processed by the TRAQS team we note that your comments relate to your treatment. Unfortunately, due to the anonymous nature of patient opinion, I am unable to comment any further at this moment in time.

We note that you feel your doctor did not prioritise your referral as expected and you experienced a delay in teceiving your prescribed medication from your GP which delayed your treatment. If you wish to make a complaint to bring these issues to your practice manager's attention your GP surgery should have a written complaints procedure, and you will find this at reception or on the practice website. As a first step, speak to the practice manager. You can also complain to the practice in writing, or by email.
