"New A&E seating area. Primary ..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

New A&E seating area. Primary care Doctor on duty that day.

What could be improved

Some understanding, and someone who listens.

Anything else?

I had cause to take my adult daughter to A&Eon Sunday 2 weeks ago. With a kidney infection, she was in lots of pain. We didn't have too long to wait,(about one and a half hours) but my daughter was in agony and could hardly sit down or stand. When we saw the triage nurse, who took my daughters details and history, this would have been the 3rd visit with the same symptoms in 6 months, 2 of which she was hospitised. The nurse refered us to the primary care doctor, we thought we would get to see them straight away but how silly were we, another waiting room to sit in. By this time my daughter was in tears and just wanted to lie down. I went to the receptionist to explain but they just sent me back to triage nurse, were guess what I had to wait again. When I did get to see them, and explain that we needed somewhere for my daughter to lie down her response was .. 'can she not lie down along the chairs in the waiting room.' I couldn't believe it. I said I didn't think that was suitable for her with the amount of pain she was in, but she said that was all they could do!! It's no wonder by the time you get to see the doctor you're so wound up and upset, you struggle to keep calm. I have to say though when we did get to see the Pirmary care doctor was really good and straight away gave a painkiller injection then examined her quickly and with care and respect. The Doctor did say she needed further investigations to find out why these symptoms re-occur. We are still waiting for that appointment, in the mean time she has had another attack of the same thing. We just want someont to listen to us. We feel like we're being passed from pillar to post, and getting nowhere.
