What I liked

The facilities and equipment.

Relative ease of getting there - if you have a car and are not elderly.

The facility nearby for visitors of terminally ill relative, to stay overnight if necessary.

What could be improved

Nurse alertness, in particular monitoring of patients who cannot be seen from the nursing station. It took a lunch time visitor to notice that my father had had a stroke after his operation, despite other patients in the same area mentioning he had tried to get out of bed and fallen.

Anything else?

Now in 2009 it takes up to 2 hours to get through and if I do I'm left hanging with for anything up to 5 mins until I give up and ring again. On complaining to the duty manager it was her who helped me find out how my step mother is and expected roughly expected time in hospital. I dread ringing again but need to for the time being.
