"Confusing instructions before colonoscopy appt"

About: East Surrey Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

The procedure wasn't able to be carried out. I thought I understood what to do...but the information pack was contradictory.

The blue booklet said follow the Moviprep instructions and the paper patient info booklet said ignore it.

The diet instructions in the booklet I followed said in one sentence 'on the day before do not eat solid food and drink 3l of water in 24hrs'... I read this as do not eat for 24 hours and drank 3l water before appt.

The instructions are very unclear, ambiguous and confusing and I felt very embarrassed to waste resources.

Dear Red faced

I am sorry you found the instructions unclear and this led to your procedure being delayed which I am sure was frustrating. I have passed your comments on to the department who sent out the leaflets so they are aware of your feedback.

kind regards

Tasha
