My former GP at Wilford Crescent, Meadows, Nottingham, was a lone GP. There was a notice above the reception desk that stated you were assured of seeing the doctor within 48 hours. I moved and am now a patient at the Carlton Road Family Medical Centre, which has innumerable GPs under the practice. To see a particular doctor (I have some ailments where I want continuity of care), I have to wait 4 or 5 weeks..
If my old GP can give you such an immediate service alone, why can't a multi-GP surgery?
