About: Airedale Centre for Mental Health / Adult mental health service

(as a service user),

I tried to kill myself a few months ago. First I went to another ward in the other hospital and then transferred here.

Staff introduced themselves and I was made to feel welcome. Staff look after me well and my needs are being met.

Day centre is not always open so you can’t always get to computers. I like to use the internet.

I have physical health problems so my mental health has not improved much. Staff are trying to help me as best they can.

I am really sorry to hear your story and want to thank you for sharing this with us despite your ill health. This is really appreciated and I know it takes some effort when people are feeling low and unwell.

It is great that you like to use the Internet and I encourage you, if you remain in our care at Airedale Centre, to ask the staff to open the facility on a daily basis. In most cases they should be able to provide access, however, there are occasions when this may not be possible; for example, when there are risks to other patients. If the room is closed and locked then staff will explain the reasons.

Your feedback about the staff is lovely and I am so glad you have been made to feel welcome. This is really important to helping people recover. It is very rewarding for the staff to know that their efforts to look after you are noticed and shared. Thank you again, and hoping you are soon feeling better.
