"Overkill with the notifications "

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

1) On discharge from May I was advised that I would be recommended for an appointment by my GP to cardiology

2) My GP told me he has referred me

3) TRAQS phoned to say that my GP has referred me

4) TRAQS wrote confirming that my GP had received its referral

5) Informed that the P. R. H. would contact me in 6-8 weeks’ time to make the appointment with a cardiologist.

Overkill don’t you think!

Dear Ozone193

Thank you for sharing your comments with the TRAQS team.

I realise that it may seem that you received too many notifications. However to answer the points you have raised:

1) The hospital have a duty to inform you that they are writing to your GP snd what their intentions are for your future care.

2) Your GP has a duty to inform you of his intention to refer you for further treatment.

3) Once TRAQS receive a referral we must contact the patient to ensure that they are aware of the reason for referral and to offer Choice of hospital if appropriate

4) Upon discussion with the patient and a decision being made as to where the patient wishes to attend for treatment TRAQS confirm by letter to the patient what happens next.

5) You would have been given an idea of the waiting time - lots of patients ask this information.

I hope this clarifies the reasons for the numerous contacts which were made with you in the booking process.

Thank you again for sharing your comments with the TRAQS team.
