"Excellent Care"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

Last Wednesday (July 24th) my husband who is 82 years old was admitted to Rake Lane after suffering a stroke. He couldn't have had better quicker care ( the ambulance came in nine minutes). Everyone we saw kept us informed about what was happening and were helpful and professional. He was given emergency treatment, then transferred to ward 22, where they looked after him very well indeed. He is home now, and the follow up care is as good as everything else was. His speech is affected and the therapists are calling to help him with that. They are also very kind and helpful. My heartfelt thanks to everyone concerned Ann R

Dear Ann, I am so sorry to hear about your husband's sudden stroke - I can appreciate how worried you must have been about him. It is so reassuring to hear that everything that needed to happen to care for him well has been taken care of effectively and efficiently. The stroke team will be delighted to know how much you have appreciated their high quality care. One of the many advantages of being one big integrated organization is that our community services can link in smoothly to the care in the hospital. It's great to know this has been your experience too and that the community care has been excellent. I wish your husband strength and determination in his recovery post stroke and I hope his speech continues to improve. Do let us know if there's anything more we can do to support you as a family. With best wishes, Annie
