"unsatisfactory"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

After my partner had a seizure I then found him the next morning passed out on the floor. After big taken to a&e we waited more than 2 hours to be seen (I am also 8 months pregnant ) people who were drunk and also escorted by police were seen to before us. We were in the hospital for around 5 hours to which staff at the reception desk were more interested in chatting about their diets and singing. Disgusting service.

Dear Ms Jones, Thank you for taking the time to post your review on NHS Choices about your partner’s attendance at our Emergency Department. We are very sorry to hear about the poor experience of you and partner in the Emergency Department and apologise for the lack of attention from staff that you outlined. Your feedback has been discussed with the Senior Sister and the team of staff in the department who have been reminded of their duties when assessing and caring for patients. It would be the expectation that with the history you describe your partner was attended to within one hour. However, if his symptoms were assessed as resolving on the initial assessment following triage this would have impacted on the waiting time. We apologise if this was not fully explained to you at the time. The Emergency Department faces many challenges to meet the needs of all of the people who attend for care and treatment and we are very sorry we failed to do so on this occasion. Thank you once again for bringing your concerns to our attention.
