"Vascular appointment"

About: Cromer Hospital

Had vascular treatment in Dec 2013 and whilst I was very impressed with the cleanliness and also with the staff in the operating theatre I was not put at ease by the female nurse who booked me in etc. I told her I was nervous as I was next to go in and she actually said "I can't hear anybody in there screaming, can you?" I asked when I would be getting local anaesthetic which it explained on the paperwork the hospital sent me and she said I wouldn't be getting any and the paperwork was out of date. Hardly reassuring and I very nearly walked out without having the surgery. The actual op was fine and was very successful but I think some staff training might be in order because I don't think patients should be spoken to like this. Imagine if patients spoke to staff like this ..... They would be pointing at their notice about zero tolerance. It should work both ways.

Thank you for telling us about your experience. Your comments have been shared with the senior management team in Cromer who apologise for any distress caused. They are pleased your operation was successful, but the matron will pass the feedback on and remind staff what is expected of them when speaking to patients in future. We hope you remain in good health.
