"Elective Orthopaedic Unit"

About: Furness General Hospital

My father (who is in his eighties) had great treatment from consultation to operation & after care in the elective Orthopaedic Unit. The anaesthetist reviewed my fathers file & asked the Royal Lancaster for more information the night before his Operation for Hip Replacement & made sure eventing was in place the following morning, The staff in ICU were also fantastic making sure that my father was informed what they were doing for him. His dignity was maintained at all times even in Theatre. The consultants were excellent in the way they treated and spoke to my father about what they were planning followed by information a couple of days after the operation regarding what they did, The nursing staff were brilliant if the were under pressure they didn't show it, if they were short staffed you didn't notice it. This Hospital has had bad publicity which in my view is misplaced. The press need to speak to more patients in different Departments. If i have one criticism it will be the food, poor menu choice for patients and in the restaurant for visitors they should get off NHS menu`s & purchasing and be more inventive also kitchen manager and chefs should go onto the wards and speak to patients more My fathers consultation was more informative than one he had at Royal Lancaster Hospital

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble for posting a comment on our services. We have passed on your comments to the relevant staff within Orthopaedics. Best wishes to your father for a speedy recovery! And thanks again.
