"Fantastic community matron but poor communication with service"

About: Central Lancashire PCT / Community nursing

(as the patient),

The girl who came to see me as part of the Community Matron service was called Anne-Marie. She was fantastic! She provides both me and my wife with lots of help.

When I first heard about the matron service, it seemed like a very good idea. It helps people like us to stay healthier without having to go into hospital, especially as doctors don't do home visits these days. However, we have had lots of problems getting hold of them. Several times I have called and got an answerphone. Not satisfactory.

I hear they plan to have a permanently staffed service desk, but that was a month ago and nothing has happened yet. I called twice last week, but couldn't get hold of them.

Dear Narrator648

Thanks for letting us know about your experiences of the Community Matron Service. It is pleasing to know that you think Anne-Marie is fantastic and that she helps both you and your wife a lot.

I am disappointed though to hear that you have experienced problems in getting through to the Matron. In order to provide a full and detailed response to your posting, I will pass this information to the manager responsible for the service. A further posting will then be made within the next 2 weeks.
