I gave birth to my baby boy on 24 June 2014 in the low risk area of the maternity unit. Every member of staff I came into contact with were amazing, from the nurses and midwifed in triage who provided support and reassurance when I had concerns with lack of movement, to the midwives and student midwifed on the ward who ultimately got me through labour and safely delivered my baby boy. I was lucky to be able to use the birthing pool which was part of my birth plan even though I didn't manage to give birth in the pool. The midwife and student midwife were supportive and explained every step which was greatly appreciated when you don't know what to expect. My baby was born at 9.05pm and thankfully my husband was allowed to stay with me through the night (huge relief) the next morning all checks were made and we left the hospital at 11 with our new family. I can not fault the care that we received or the support we were given and are so grateful for everything the staff did for us.
