Went to fracture clinic and had a very swift appointment regarding my broken hand. First off Dr asked why I was there as he was looking at someone else's x-rays! When right one viewed was told one fracture across the shaft of metacarpal. Then when cast was placed on hand, staff pressed down on cast in an area where she believed the fracture was but admitted she had not checked x-rays. After 3 weeks this got removed and Dr surprised it had not healed. Was in and out in 3 minutes. Was given a splint. Following further extreme pain went to Addenbrookes for second opinion. Turns out I had multiple fractures, including spiral break all the way down metacarpal. Its also dislodged at the base and rotated. Can not make a fist and now faced with surgery to have it re-broken and pinned. Should have been spotted from my initial x-rays! I can't drive and now face a further several months of uncertainty as to my rehab. Very dissatisfied with my treatment and assessment at Harlow fracture clinic and feel very let down by the Dr there who should have referred me to surgeon in the first instance had he actually spent more than a few seconds looking at my x-ray!
