"Nice, Impressive New Building"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nice, Impressive New Building

What could be improved

Car parking (or the lack of) and when you do finally get a space the extotionate parking rates are rediculous.

Anything else?

I have had numerous appointments at this hospital to be seen by a 'pool' of specialists in the last 2 years.

I would like to say that the nursing staff have been superb

The appointments have always started quite late without fail or on occasion without apology.

A weekend appointment I attended turned out to be for getting the results of a test that at the time i had not had and was awaiting the appointment date.

On another occasion I turned up to have a specialist try to diagnose my problem whilst looking at another patients MRI scan, It was only when I pointed out to him 5 minutes into the consultation that it was not my scan that he was looking at (and after much debate) that he realised the mistake.

On another consultation I had a 'disagreement' with the consultant over the results of a previous appointment because the specialist I had seen previously had only written the date in my notes and no consultation notes in my record.

I understand that the NHS is horribly underfunded, poorly managed and that the staff in place do the best job that they can given the circumstances that they face.

I also understand the reason behind Specialist's surgeon's working in a 'pool' system.

Unfortunatly at this hospital (purely in my experience and opinion) this does system not work due to lack of communication and poor management.

10 Years ago in Wiltshire I had to undergo a similar procedure.

I was under the care of one Nuerosurgeon from the first consultation, right through to surgery and post operative care. His clinics ran on time and I was treated from start to finish in under 12 months.

I have now been in the 'care' of University hospital coventry for nearly 2 years and frustratedly feel i'm getting nowhere fast. I have now been waiting over 4 months for the results of my last CT scan for which I was told I would wait no more than 28 days

The new buildings look superb, from my experience it is a shame the patient care does not match the faca
