"F63 ENT paediactric care"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

We attended F63 for my daughters tonsillectomy operation, the ward has a lovely feel to it with hard working staff, particularly one lovely nurse. Throughout the stay we experienced nothing but top class care despite the fact that the open and honest board stated the ward was under staffed that day. The theatre staff were very supportive yo a nervous mother and child too ! It was a very hot day and cold drinks and ice lollies were handed out but maybe the trust should invest in more fans or portable air conditioning units before their dedicated staff melt !! Not good for a busy ward to be so warm. Despite this, the staff kept up the pace and tried their best to make things comfortable for the children and parents. To the trust management please reward your staff by giving them the environment the can effectively work in. I also hope that nurses don't get the job of sorting out this problem out, best keep them on the shop floor where they do what they do best. Excellent experience.

Thank you for your comments. We will share these with the staff on Ward F63 who will be delighted to receive such positive feedback. We note your comments regarding the extremely warm environment on the ward. We will also pass these comments on to the directorate manager and ask them to look into trying to improve this for the staff.
