"Most of the nurses are very professional ..."

About: Derriford Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Most of the nurses are very professional and friendly.

What could be improved

Communication. After my operation my notes were lost, this is not the first time my notes have been lost at Derriford Hospital, but the dozens of different student doctors coming to see me every day had no idea what they were supposed to be treating me for. I had pneumonia but was wrongly treated for blood clots for 4 days. Doctors were rude and had a tendency to talk amongst themselves over my head, I was told conflicting information every day and had no idea what was wrong with me. I was lied to about the results of my operation, I have a staghorn calculus, which I was told had been mostly removed. Having just moved to Newcastle and transferred to a new hospital, I find after another X-Ray that this is not the case at all! The toilet facilities were disgusting and not cleaned anywhere near enough.
