"Additional feedback on discharge process"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

I think the lines of communication on discharge day should be improved significantly - my husband was told at 8am he would be discharged and left the hospital at 5.30pm. He refused lunch in the presence of the ward sister and said he would prefer to have it at home, without knowing he would be there all day. I was also told it was illegal for patients to leave the hospital without a discharge paper but I know of someone else who did just that on the same day and returned in the evening for paperwork and medication. Patients just need to be fully informed and surely paperwork and medication can be prepared a day in advance? I am also concerned about the way cleaning is carried out - the same cloth is sued to wipe sinks, bins, table tops, window sills etc?! I hope this helps you address some of these issues.
