"Absolutely top class!"

I was rushed in by 999 ambulance, and from then to the time I left 9 days later, I've nothing but praise! The staff on A&E were extremely busy but still made time for whatever I needed. I was then transferred to A9. Again, they were extremely busy but still had time for anything I needed. My consultant has got to be one of the nicest doctors I've met! He had time to explain and take questions on the operation, diagnoses, outcomes, etc. nothing was too much bother for him. If it took 10 minutes to answer a question, then so be it! Following surgery, I went to ward A12. Here I received some of the best care imaginable! The staff would listen to your concerns, worries or fears and quickly answer them in a way anyone could understand, would help and give any support needed, and would be there as soon as they could if you buzzed them. One particular staff nurse really helped me. I'd had laparoscopic surgery and was concerned about my wounds. Even though the ward was full, she was busy, the nurse made sure she checked me, spoke to me in an extremely calming, caring and professional manner, and put any fears I had down. I've worked in the NHS for 20years, and I've never met in all that time, someone like them! She is an absolute credit to the ward and to the profession! I do hope she gets to see this, she deserves praise at the highest level imaginable! All in all, everyone can find faults with anything, the only thing I can fault are the food portion sizes. They're far too big! The food is excellent and varied, but need choices on portion sizes, so as to limit waste. This hospital is extremely clean, dignified and respectful at all times with choices given to your care wherever possible. I'd highly recommend this hospital!
