"ward 314"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

When my partner was admitted to ward 314 after the birth of our daughter most of the midwives were fantastic the odd one or two could gain a few people skills but most were great helpful and friendly giving us as much help as they could. however the paediatricians were disgraceful they were rude they didnt keep us informed about our daughter's treatment an when they did it was to late as we had to go around asking people what was happening they need to remember that some parents are first time parents an its a daunting time especially if there child is needing extra treatment our daughter was 5and a half weeks early and had high levels of jaundice this to us was serious and unsettled us alot if it wasnt for the midwives we wouldnt of had a clue sort it out paediatricians parents need your support work with them not ignore them also to the staff on nicu you were also amazing so kind and helpfull thankyou all so much our daughter is now 5an a half weeks old and doing brilliantly

Many thanks for your invaluable feedback as to the experience you had following the recent birth of your baby daughter. We were pleased to learn that you felt the majority of the staff you encountered were polite, respectful and helpful, which is certainly the behaviour we would expect from all of our staff. However, we were very disappointed to hear that you felt the support and advice given by the medical team (the Paediatricians) was not of this standard and for this we most sincerely apologise. If you would like us to look into this matter further and provide you with a more thorough response, then please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on Freephone number 0800 783 7691 or via email on dhft.contactpals@nhs.net to provide them with more details of this experience to allow us the opportunity to investigate further. However, in the meantime many we thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with this feedback and also offer our apologies once more for any upset caused at this very special, but we are sure, anxious time. Kind regards and very best wishes and congratulations to all of your family on the birth of your new baby daughter, whom we are extremely pleased to hear is now doing so very well following her pre-mature birth. Miss Deborah Furness, member of the Patient Experience Team for the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
