"hospital and GP care during cancer treatment"

About: Derriford Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

went to GP at Oak Tree Surgery with breast lump-seen by first available female doctor-had appointment about 10 days later with surgeon at Primrose unit Derriford-scans done same day.

Surgery 1 week later followed by chemotherapy at oncology dept. and local hospital (which saved long journeys) and radiotherapy 4 weeks after last dose for three weeks at Derriford.

The experience at Derriford and with the chemotherapy outreach unit was about as good as you could get. The kindness and sensitivity and professionalism was outstanding. The other patients I met (some going through very gruelling experiences) were all expressing in conversation with me how impressed they were by the staff who, it has to be said were working flat out all the time.

The support from Oak Tree Surgery which I receive was also outstanding. I had same day appointments for help with side effects.

I hope future patients will draw comfort from my remarks.
