"lakeside unit, Leigh"

About: Leigh Infirmary Mh Oupatients Clinic

(as a relative),

My dad is currently staying in lakeside unit in Leigh and it is an utter disgrace. He has been in there for 3 days so far and has been unable to sleep, unable to eat the food, had his medication missed and messed up and through no fault of his own, has missed an appointment for a scan on his liver. He missed his tea time meal through having his time wasted going to Wigan for a missed appointment and upon return wasn't offered anything to eat. He then sat there with no milk in his cup of tea as they had run out. He then did not receive his tea time medication. What kind of NHS system do we have when patients in need of help are not receiving their medication or offered food or even milk in their cup of tea? On his second day he was served the same meal for tea as he was served for lunch earlier that day, who wants to eat vegetable sausage and mash twice in one day? He never ate both meals and my dad is supposed to be watched for his food intake. I've been told countless times that if you complain then your relative receives worse care so people are scared to complain. This is ridiculous for our NHS

I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with services. The allegation told to you by others that a complaint will lead to worse care for your relative is completely unfounded. We welcome complaints that help us to make improvements to our services. To that end, please feel free to contact my secretary on the telephone number below. I am happy to discuss the issues you raise over the phone, or we can arrange to meet face to face if you would prefer.
