"My boyfriend's experience of scoliosis"

About: The James Cook University Hospital / Neurology

(as a friend),

My boyfriend Robert has scoliosis and when he first had his operations his spine was at an 87 degree angle. His scoliosis was caused by a growth on the back of his brain, which stopped fluid from getting to his spine. I am very thankful to James Cook hospital for saving his life, because his own doctor said he should of been snapped in half.

Now after he has been through so much, the government has decided that he is fit and able to work. We tried to appeal, but Robert then got very down about it and did not want to talk about the appeal or his back problems because he was sick of hearing about them. Even now, he still wont talk about things like that because the appeal went wrong. Instead of trying again, he got very depressed and now feels worthless. So if there is anyone else who has been in a similar situation, I do feel for you and I hope Robert will read other people story's and realise that he is not alone and has support.
