About: Rosie Hospital Rosie Hospital Cambridge CB2 0QQ
I went in at 5.30 to the birthing unit after calling and them saying to come in and get checked. The woman taking my notes was wonderful and hilarious! A lovely student midwife. However the person above her decided I was in 'very early stages and wouldn't deliver my baby until the next day at least' she told me to go and get food at around 7 and to come back at 8 to get checked because I quote 'she didn't want to go home and think of my cervix' so my examination didn't happen. At 8 funnily enough just leaving the food court my waters broke... And my baby was coming!! I got to the unit at 8.20 and they didn't believe that she was coming. After being rushed upstairs n having to get myself onto a bed at least 3m from the birthing unit bed. I then gave birth 40 minutes later.. The delivery midwife was amazing! She really really was! At about 2 in the morning I was moved to a ward. My boyfriend was then told to leave. I was panicking because obviously first time mum, 20 years old going through all that and him leaving... The person on reception told me it's okay, hey some rest we'll look after baby. I woke up at 6. Spent an hour trying to feed my baby. N got shouted at for her not being fed because I'd wrapped her up which I hadn't. So I undressed my baby, fed her, then got shouted at for her being undressed! I felt very belittled and emotional. Also I asked her if she could get me a bottle and she looked in such disgust! Bearing in mind I had ridicoulsly amount of stitches and could barely walk... Some aspects were great and some weren't. My labour was quick so I was lucky. It was just staff attitudes.
