"Great care after falling off a ladder"

About: University Hospital Lewisham / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

A ladder collapsed under me in April 2005. The ambulance crew arrived very quickly to take me to University Hospital Lewisham. I was treated immediately and it was discovered I had broken a bone in my pelvis. After staying 2 nights in hospital I was taken home by the transport service, a home physiotherapist arrived the next day and checked in on me weekly. She also arranged for the installation of equipment to make my period of being housebound as manageable as possible. I was referred for hydrotherapy and had a course of hydrotherapy.

The whole experience was as untraumatic as it could have been and I have nothing but praise for the way the NHS dealt with my situation from start to finish.
