"A&E Visit"

I was referred to Hillingdon A&E late one Wednesday evening by my GP after some blood test results showed some abnormal liver function. Worried and scared my partner and I arrived at A&E where we were met by a bit of a queue at the main reception they took my details down and thankfully they had received the paper work from my GP so they directed me to what I can only guess is a A&E triage area. I was met by a nurse run off her feet who looked at my notes and directed me to a seating area. At first I thought the seating area consisted just of two chairs as it was right next to a closed cubicle curtain and I could see some people seated within the closed cubicle and I thought this is bad in terms of privacy it turned out that this was also part of the waiting area and one of the other patients had closed the curtain due to a wondering patient. The waiting area in all was about 6 chairs in what looked like a disused cubicle and wasn't very inviting at all. A kind nurse took my observations and asked me how I was feeling (even though I had had pain in the few days beforehand I felt fine at the time but it was lovely to be asked) I was directed back to the seating area till a nice phlebotomist did my repeat blood test and put in a cannula and labelled it with the date it was inserted and told me I may have to wait an hour before getting the results of the blood test.. A short while later I was moved to a bigger area with cubicles and the nurses station I was seen by a nice nurse who I did not see much of as she seemed to have other patients but she seemed quite attentive when dealing with me. After a bit of a wait (not sue how long) a doctor came and told me my blood test results were getting slightly better so he will refer me back to GP for further tests. He didn't seem that attentive and made me feel slightly like I has just waited his time as he told me A&E is not for blood tests even though it was my GP that had referred me. I was quite angry and upset by this and even asked my GP when I saw him afterwards if I was right to go to the hospital he confirmed to me that when he saw my blood tests he thought that I was best in a hospital then walking around with such deranged liver function! Overall, quite a good level of care and it seemed quite clean I didn't have to wait too long and was in and out in a few hours (3 perhaps max) certain things can be improved (A&E Triage waiting area) Doctors attitude but overall I would go to the Hillingdon A&E again if I had to.
