"The maternity department (Delivery ..."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The maternity department (Delivery suite) was a comfortable room and was fully equipped to make mothers feel as relaxed possible. There are one or two staff who truely take care in their work and this comes across.

What could be improved

There is a distinct lack of experience with most staff on both the delivery suites and C3 ward. The communication I considered to be very poor. The Maternity department is severly understaffed, which I feel this puts mothers in the area at a great risk. I have experienced this and I believe that there is much that could be improved. Extra staff is a must as well as greater care taken in the staff selection. Most of the midwives I came across were very uncaring and did not treat me with the respect I deserved. Attention to detail with records needs to be looked at. I experienced notes "disappearing" and then reappearing with different notes to the originals. Surely this is not right?

Anything else?

Even though this is my nearest hospital I would not reccommend any family or friends having their children here. If you have heart problems then the hospital has a great heart department. it's a shame that some parts of the hospital function extremely well while others seem to be left under achieving
