"Suspicious Mole"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

The doctor and the nurses who worked with him treated me in a friendly and supportive way throughout my time in Dermatology Out patients on Tuesday 15th July. I have seen my doctor a week before and he told me that the appointment would be within 2 weeks and not to be alarmed if I was telephoned by the hospital. I did receive a call giving me the date of 15th July and time and was told it would be confirmed by letter which it was. On 15th July I was seen as soon as I arrived 10 mins early for my appointment (4.15) the doctor was very friendly and explained clearly and showed me photos of my mole which demonstrated his concerns and his wish to remove it at once. The nurse in the initial appointment was calming and supportive. The doctor asked me whether I could stay and he would see if I could be fitted in that afternoon to have my mole removed. Could I come back at 5.45 - half an hour later? I did so and completed my consent form while in the waiting room with the doctor. The team who took care of me during my minor operation to remove my mole were very friendly reassuring and efficient. They explained clearly what they would be doing and were calm and reassuring throughtout; as well as explaining about the after care required as well as that the mole would be sent for analysis and my GP informed. The operation was painless and quick and we had a conversation ranging from recycling in Lancashire, skiing and kayaking during my tiem with them. Afterwards, a nurse explained to me about how the results of the biopsy would be shared. Thank you to everyone involved.
