"I brought a friend for a hospital ..."

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

(as a relative),

What I liked

I brought a friend for a hospital appointment today. We arrived at 9am and were astonished that we could not find a parking space on site. On driving onto the new car park, where the old A&E Department was situated, we were dismayed to find a large section of parking spaces fenced off, a work's portakabin on site and work vans parked in the visitors parking spaces! On riding around to the exit, I noted while I waited in a queue of traffic that lots of cars were raising a barrier to the left of the Diabetes Centre. I presume these were ALL Medical Staff and would hope that this is the case and not Trust HQ Staff. Thanks to the Trust we were forced to ride around looking for spaces, noting that a number of STAFF managed to find a parking space and we were very late for our appointment. Did not manage to park on site. Will not be choosing Wigan Infirmary for any out patients appointments if I need to be referred by my GP. I would rather travel out of district, at least you are able to park at other hospitals, which I have found from experience, even the big Manchester Hospitals. Patient care - doesn't exist.

What could be improved

Stop staff blatently parking on site. I saw a Physiotherapist manage to get a parking space and was obviously going to work, as in full uniform with ID badge blatently displayed. Appalling.
