"Attending sessions was the proudest thing I have done in 7 years"

About: Inclusion Matters Liverpool

(as the patient),

Attending sessions @ I. M was the proudest bravest thing I have done in 7 years, why 7 years, because it was 7 years ago I faced my first clash with depression, I thought I got “over it” but back it came. But this time I faced it head on. My one to one sessions with my CLLR were lead + defined by me. She helped but gave me the power. I climbed the biggest mountains ever with a massive burden on my back crying up that mountain all the way. But I ran down it singing.

Me and my CLLR had brilliant sessions and she supported me going on medication for the first time. Something I was petrified of. But I take the pills without fear.

Every session I had @ IM. I knew I was getting mentally better. My mental health will not get 100% better& never will. But IM taught em to face it, & be confident to tall others. We need to change peoples perceptions & attitudes to our illness. I think we should have monthly support forums. Where we can all meet & support each other.

Thank you IM.

Dear Name752,

I am pleased to hear that you feel proud that you attended counselling for help with your depression. It is a brave thing to attend therapy and can be difficult particularly intially to open up about how you are feeling. I'm glad you have been able to climb your mountain and come over the other side singing.

You make a very interesting suggestion regarding support forums. We welcome feedback on service improvements and developments from people who have used our service and have a patient involvement forum. If you are interested in being involved in this please contact the service on 0151 228 2300 and ask for Ian Brodie who will give you more information.

Best wishes

Tracey
