I did not receive an appointment letter as the receptionist informed me on the day of the appointment that she had been too busy to send one. The sister in charge at gynaecology outpatients then attempted to weigh me on a dirty chair in front of a waiting room full of patients. I stopped her, told her she needed to clean the chair and that I wanted some privacy. I asked the receptionist why I needed to advise a member of nursing staff to clean the equipment and to afford me some privacy, by not weighing me in a room full of people. She replied that this is how they have been told to do it. How utterly ridiculous. My first visit to this hospital and I was amazed by this 'sister' and her lack of empathy and professionalism. Dirty equipment and no consideration for her patient. A horrible start to a distressing appointment.
"surprising behaviour from a sister"
