What I liked
The Nurses who actually tried to make a difference to patient care, despite a lack of them.
What could be improved
There was an MRSA outbreak on the ward where my Mother was, which she then contracted. Plastic aprons, gloves and hand lotion was available and Nurses and most visitors used them. However, very few Doctors used them and went from patient to patient and subsequently from bay to bay without these barriers to cross contamination. EDUCATE, the Doctors and if necessary, Discipline.
Anything else?
Publish Accurate statistics for MRSA. Information board in Hospital showed only One case of MRSA in 2008. Yet the ward my Mother was on was closed for New admissions due to the MRSA contamination of several patients. Will it be recorded with actual number of patients affected?
