What I liked
Once seen by the staff, recieved a very good level of service, although waiting to get through was tedious and boring. Got the feeling that patient engagement was non existant in the vain hope that individuals would leave of there own accord - root out the time wasters.
What could be improved
Greater patient engagement - flat screen tv's showing news / terestrial channels, access points for internet - just general make the environment more patient friendly and stimulating, i.e perhaps the adidtion of a fish tank in a&e waiting area.
Anything else?
On a seperate visit to the hospital was enraged at the lack of respect shown to my mother who had been strapped down to a bed - pending results of spinal x-ray and left as an over spill patient laying on the bed in the corridor for around 20 minutes while staff were chatting and sipping coffee. The main station in the cubicled area in A&E seemed to be somewhere for doctors and nurses to generally mess around and have a tea break, noting that by the hand sanitation area it was leaking down the wall, and paint was peeling no one seemed bothered by this.
