"Fast and effective care"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I was seen in A&E Minors with abdominal pain. The triage nurse was very kind and caring and gave me analgesia very quickly and took bloods whilst I waited a small amount of time for a doctor. I was then seen by an A&E doctor who swiftly diagnosed me with appendicitis and referred me to the surgeons. I was then transferred to the Surgical Assessment Unit where I was seen by a very kind general surgeon who decided to admit me and operate the next day. From SAU I was taken to Downland Ward where the nurses were very attentive to my pain and needs. I was in A&E for approximately one hour and SAU for about 30 minutes. I attended A&E at 04.00 and the appendix was removed at 12.00. The nurses in recovery were very attentive to my post surgical pain. I am a nurse and I was very proud of my profession whilst being a patient. The patient pathway was clever and despite the heavy workload in A&E the nurses were very attentive. All the levels of staff were so kind and caring.
