"Seamless service between a&e/ MAU"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Having attended A&E via ambulance with my husband experiencing chest pain I would like to sincerely express our gratitude at the quality of care from our first exposure to EMAS staff, through all levels of trained and untrained staff in A&E until our discharge from MAU. They were efficient and yet very kind, took our concerns seriously demonstrating great competence and yet were also witty and humorous which undoubtedly put us at ease. Whilst there was, of course, a degree of waiting around for results etc. we were always aware of how to call for assistance and were treated with great respect. Both myself and my daughter work for the NHS and it's easy to look for the negatives. However, we were very pleasantly surprised to realise that the staff within these units go the extra mile to ensure patient satisfaction whilst still managing to show warmth, compassion and competence. Thank you.

Many thanks for your extremely kind comments regarding you and your husband's recent visit/attendance at our Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Derby Hospital. Our staff try very hard to provide a high standard of care to all our patients and I was delighted to hear that you felt this aim was achieved on this ocasion. I will certainly ensure that this feedback is shared with the staff in our ED as I am sure they also will be most appreciative. In the meantime, may I thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your important feedback regarding your experience as a user of our services and also may I take the opportunity to wish you and your family sincere good wishes for the future and especially, your husband who I hope is now well on his way to a full recovery. Kind regards Deborah Furness, member of the Patient Experience Team at the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
