"Grandchild born safely but Car Parking Charges are..."

About: Princess Anne Hospital

My son and his partner was safely delivered a daughter, but mum and baby had to stay in for a few days so my son had to pay the extortionate parking charges after paying £14 for the first day and again on the second he was advised that if he was staying for a while he could get a 7 day ticket that would cost £22.00 and was told that all this is printed on the ticket machine and he "Should have read it"................. Even though he had already paid £28.00 for the two days he was not able to get a reduction for the last day he was there. My son is dyslexic and I'm sure there are a lot of people whose first language isn't English and trying to find security is a mission impossible. The charges for the parents should be minimal as they are in the hospital from 9.00am until 9.00pm in some cases.

Congratulations on the birth of your grand daughter. I'm sorry to hear that your son was not advised earlier of the reduced parking charges and appreciate it may be difficult for some people to understand some of the notices. He may be able to obtain a refund for his parking charges, please contact the Travelwise Department at Southampton General Hospital. Phone: 023 8120 4133 or Email: travelwise@uhs.nhs.uk The Travelwise office is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and on Fridays from 9am to 3pm. I have passed your feedback to the Manager of Travelwise and also to the Maternity Matron at Princess Anne to share with their staff.
