My daughter fell over and cut her head open on the evening of Wednesday 9th July - Southmead called the Childrens Hospital as my daughter needed an operation on the wound. We left Southmead with a 9:00am appointment for the next day at the Children's Hospital. My daughter was unable to drink or eat after 7am and my husband took her to the hospital - by 12pm the hospital decided that they had no beds so sent them home, to return the following day. Again the next day my daughter could not eat or drink and was left waiting for surgery for 12 hours (bearing in mind she is only 2!) to be finally told at 7pm that it would not happen that day either and to return the following day - I really feel that this was disgusting to leave a 2 year old for 12 hours with no drinks especially in the hot weather at the moment. Finally on Saturday, again my daughter could not drink after 7am and finally had the operation at 4pm (again 9 hours with no drink). Finally the wound has now been sorted and the staff were helpful with her just before and after the operation, I just feel there surely must have been some lack of communications to leave a child this long with an open wound and without food or drink for such a long time!
