"Rectal cancer"

About: Wycombe Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

When I was diagnosed the consultant informed me I should go for a rectum removal & have a colostomy bag fitted or chemo/radiotherapy . the doctor was not happy when I chose to have the chemo/radiotherapy.

ok...the radiotherapy in the groin area was very painful towards the end ....going for a pee was like acid attacking my vagina plus I could not hold my waterworks but since then no problems....

when you think that I was recommended to have a colostomy bag fitted ....I am so happy I stuck to my guns & since the CT scan shows 'no significant abnormalities' & apparently I was in stage one of cancer - why recommend that horrendous choice! ! ?
