I've got to know the midwife unit in Perth very well, because I attended for check ups 3 times a week from 5 weeks before my daughter was born. The midwives were brilliant and I felt very well looked after at my check ups at the daycare clinic.
I had my induction date already scheduled in Dundee, when labour started naturally 3 days before the induction date. I phoned the midwife unit in Perth and thankfully it wasn't very busy when I phoned, so I was able to get on my way early. We had a 45 minutes drive and I was glad we left the house early, by the time we arrived in Perth everything was in full swing.
The support was fantastic. I got a room with a pool and managed to stay most of my labour in the pool. I had a big baby and the midwife did a fantastic job to help getting her out. She kept me updated all the time, what choices I have and what she would recommend. I felt in control all the time.
I decided to stay 2 days in Perth, because I needed support with breastfeeding. I got a great single room with en-suite. The food was good (for hospital food) and everyone was very nice and supportive.
I highly recommend the unit in Perth. There is lots of experience and everyone has a big heart!
