"My experience during a scan and history"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I went for my scan and everything was perfect and the staff were very helpful in that particular room.

One member of hospital staff however, I felt clearly had an attitude problem and didn't know how to talk. They decided to tell me how far in my pregnancy I am at the reception desk where several people where sat there, when they could have taken me to one of the rooms that were free at the time. Then after announcing this information I had to wait an hour for a midwife to start the history.

The nurse that conducted the history I thought actually jabbed the wrong needle in to my arm to withdraw blood, well it seemed a very thick needle and they couldn't find a vein and kept prodding me. Then eventually after complaining for pain for over ten minutes she was going to refer me to the bloods department but I asked if she could attempt to do it again in my other arm and use a thinner needle, which they did do.

But I felt as some of the other staff were unprofessional.
