"Does anyone take hygiene seriously"

I was sat in the foyer of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for over 30 minutes and not a single person washed their hands with the alcohol have wash. The doors are used by patients, visitors and staff.

Does anyone take hygiene seriously?

Thank you for your feedback which we will pass our infection control team. We have run local campaigns to encourage hand washing and will continue to focus on hand hygiene. Our hospital is rated highly for cleanliness and we have low infection rates.

Whilst infection rates may be low, it does not mean that strict rules about hand washing should be ignored. I appreciate that all wards will also have hand washing stations, but surely it would be common sense to eliminate disease spread at the front door?

I was particularly surprised that none of the staff used the wash stations, given that they must know about the severity of disease spread in hospitals.
