"Disappointed and Frustrated"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I was admitted for surgery to have a benign tumour removed at the end of May, discharged 4 days later. Due to infection I was readmitted 5 days later for emergency surgery. During these stays my pain management was poor. 2 paracetamol and 30 mg codiene only, and dispensed anything between 4 - 7 hours apart. Agency staff seen to be on a mobile device throughout a night shift unchallenged by nursing staff, even asking to borrow a charger at one point !! Since discharge I have been informed that some cells removed show signs of becoming malignant and have been sent to Manchester for further analysis. This was 4 weeks ago, today I have been to an appointment to receive my results of these tests. After waiting over an hour, in a not very busy waiting area, I was shown in to see my consultant. Less than one minute later I was back out. Apparently no results have come through as yet. As I'm sure people can appreciate, this is a worrying time and my concern is that these "samples" have been lost or destroyed. The doctor assures me that he will know the outcome in the next 2-3 days and will "let me know" but when ? I've waited over four weeks and now am expected to wait for s letter to drop through my door at some unspecified point in time. I have been off work since the beginning of this saga and referred to counselling for anxiety issues. This added delay simply raises my anxieties and adds stresses, all of which delays my recovery and returning to work.
