"First time stay for my son on the children's ward"

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

The ward is very friendly from the staff nurse to the cleaners the medical team were excellent the ward had newly opened following a re-fit the teenage room is excellent with lots of things for them to pass the time , the ward itself is quite cramped in the bays not much room around the bed space for parents stay over . The food was awful if you like processed food then you will love it, no variety a 5 day stay resulted in chick nuggets , fish fingers bit hover cooked , turkey burgers 2 days in a row veg curry , fish pie cheese potato pie chips with everything. No fruit , no pasta no fibre no nice sandwiches or panninis . I did ask if any thing else was available and was offered a pot noodle , I ended up bringing my own food in for my son , as I write this I happen to be watching a chef as he is trying to sort out the food at ROH with a smile on my face On a positive the cooked breakfast in the cafe was great .

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your son's experiences here at the hospital earlier this month. I'm pleased his care went well and the staff made you feel comfortable and at ease. I have passed on your comments to those of my colleagues who run the ward and in the catering team so we can establish if there are any changes we can make to improve and develop where we can. I have odf course also shared your kind words with our managers and executive team here. All our best wishes for your son's continued recovery and wellbeing.
