About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I was admitted late on Friday the 4th to pearl ward for emergency induction due to preeclampsia. I went into labour really quickly and was transferred to labour ward. I ended up having an emergency c section on Saturday night due to failure to progress. I can honestly say that the care I received was faultless, absolutely amazing, my pain was managed in real time and I was reviewed really quickly every time I needed it. I don't remember most if their names even though they did introduce themselves every time. Great nurse, caring one to one midwife in labour ward and very blunt but absolutely fantastic and charming nurse in kent ward! I also need to say a big thank you to all doctors involved as they also were pretty amazing. My point being is that I am not sure what the Cqc are looking for but as a patient I don't believe that the maternity services at Medway need improvement I think they are absolutely Awesome and the way they work should be celebrated rather than punished. Only one thing negative, please get recliner chairs for accompanying partners!! I am told the floor is a little bit uncomfortable

Thank you very much for your positive comments in relation to the care that you received with us in early July. I particularly appreciate your feedback to us now, knowing that this is such a busy time with a new baby. I will pass your feedback to all the teams involved and they will be encouraged that you received such good care with us. In response to your request for recliners for partners, we do have a small number and are approaching two local charities to have more across the unit. Wishing you are your new family all the best in the future. Karen McIntyre Head of Midwifery and Head of Gynaecological Nursing
