"Head of femur replacement"

I was ashamed to witness the poor standards of care that my Father was given during his stay. Where do I start? Firstly my father was dropped post surgery (one day) on the ward which was quickly covered up. To my horror after discussing this with the nursing staff it had not been reported as an incident, my father s pain had increased to a 9/10 rather than a 1/10 and no further X-ray had been arranged as no one had reported it to the ward doctor. One person was transferring my father who requires at least two people with a turner device. To my horror day two- the same happened again and no one had informed the Sister on duty, in fact the member of staff who dropped my father had gone off duty. The final straw was when I reached for a pile of dirty tissues to remove them off my fathers table, only to be greated with a used needle and syringe which was buried amongst the tissues. My father could not confirm that the dirty needle and syringe was his! My father had his staples removed from his incision before he left hospital. Unfortunately once we where home we discovered that several had been left in his wound.( basic nursing care again failed) Working myself in this profession as a team leader for 23 years I am embarrassed and concerned at the lack of basic care and attention and can only question a persons professional integrity when such incidents are not reported and plainly ignored and covered up.
