"Ongoing probelms following stroke"

had a stroke 18 months ago. is an insulin dependent diabetic. Recently had surgery to their right leg to improve circulation. The person is in a lot of pain particularly at night and calf feels hard and swollen.

The persons GP has visited and prescribed diuretics but calf still swollen. The person has 4 carers a day who come to their home to provide personal care as the person lives alone and now can’t walk.

The persons son visits after work. They are going to ask his son to take him to the GP for an assessment of the current situation. The person feels they did not receive enough physio after a stroke (6 weeks).

You may want to know more about stroke and its effects, be looking for practical information and support, or simply someone to talk to. We also have a range of services across the UK, providing information, advice and support to stroke survivors and their families. We were sorry to hear of your experience and that you feel you did not receive good care. It sounds as though the hospital is willing to look into your concerns but if you are still unhappy, it may be helpful to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). PALS is an independent organisation, there to ensure that the NHS listens to patients, their relatives, carers and friends, answers their questions and resolves their concerns as quickly as possible.
