"Husband with blocked catheter"

About: Worthing Hospital

My husband had a blocked catheter on Saturday. He had been having trouble with it on and off most of the day. We went to A&E at 7:00pm and he was not seen till11:30pm. He had not been able to empty his bladder for 7 hours by this time. He seems more or less ok today, but I'm still worried he'll come down with a bacterial infection and have to spend another week in hospital.

We are very sorry to hear this feedback about your visit to our A/E department. We appreciate that the wait that your husband experienced with a catheter that was not working must have been very distressing. We have forwarded your posting to the matron for the department who would like to apologise for the delay. We hope your husband is now recovered and not experiencing any further difficulties with the catheter. If you would like to talk to us in further detail about your experience please do not hesitate to do so. As NHS Choices is a confidential service we do not have your details. We would therefore be grateful if you would contact us via our PALS department. You can do this by calling PALS on 01903 285032(office hours) or emailing us at PALSWorthing@wsht.nhs.uk.
