"The worst health care I have experience in my life"

About: Hammersmith Hospital

I was mortified at the service from this hospital as a whole. My wife is 21 weeks pregnant and had two episodes of of vomiting a significant amount of blood (half a cup full on both occasions). So we deemed this as an emergency only to mbe made to wait 4 hours until the gp decided to send us to the labour ward who then made is wait a further half hour only to tell us there is nothing we can do for you so go back to the emergency department. To much distress we went back to the emergency department having now been in the hospital for almost 5 hours, then to be told we have to go through the whole waiting process again and the doctor will see us again. As I'm sure anyone would do, we left feeling humiliated and not shown any concern by any staff that a patient came in who was concerned that they were vomiting blood. So we got home around 9 having received no treatment or care. Later the a&e department calls begging us to come back and that we will get seen. We very reluctantly went back as my wife was feeling very unwell after having made us run around like headless chickens. When we got back it was around midnight. By the time we were seen by a doctor it was around 2.30. Finally the doctor came to the conclusion that it is nothing to worry about and if my wife vomits blood again then she should basically ignore it. I could not believe this is the ridiculous advice we were given for someone who's 21 weeks pregnant and vomiting blood. We are very frustrated with all that has taken place and are now left still being concerned what the cause of vomiting blood is. I mean I always thought vomiting blood was a urgent matter to attend to. Sadly for us we were treated as if we were not a life worth being concerned over rather made to almost spend 10 hours in the hospital all together to finally be told if you vomit blood just ignore it! Utterly disgusted and would really hope this is looked into and we plan on taking further action and will not accept this at all.
