"Poor communication and rude"

I attended the Minor Injuries Unit at Mexborough Montagu Hospital, and was seen by an emergency nurse practitioner after falling and hurting my wrist. I was duly sent to x-ray and informed that I had not broken anything and was discharged home.

I was later recalled as I had in fact broken my wrist and it had been missed by the nurse practitioner. although how is beyond me as I was shown my x-ray and even I could see it and i work in a supermarket. At the time of attending this hospital I was greeted with the attitude that I should not have been there. I felt as though i was below the person that was examining me and I was nothing but a bother to them. I was not pleased to say the least. I felt her comments were rude, unjustified and her general manner unprofessional to say the least.

when I was recalled I asked whom i had been seen by in the first instance and was shocked to find out it was a matron for the Mexborough, Doncaster and Bassettlaw accident and emergencies department. Needless to say I am disgusted by this.

The rest of the staff were so apologetic but why should they be? I do not want an apology. but I am actually going to take this matter further. I feel that this member of staff considering the position they are in should be made aware that this is not acceptable behaviour for a nurse never mind a manager. They are the ones that are supposed to set a good example.

I have used this department twice before and have been bowled over by their kindness especially when I took my 2 year old and they gave her a teddy bear. It made her so happy. I have now advised several people about this incident and one of them informed me of this website.

I feel that this incident should be discussed with this manager and her fitness to carry out this job questioned, before a serious incident occurs.

Im sorry that i can not be more positive but I am really angry at her attitude and aggressive nature. If this is the response I got over a minor injury I would not like to think about her management skills.
