"Exceeded my expectations"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

I am writing to say how grateful I am for the treatment I received during my stay at Musgrove Park Hospital from Tuesday 1st July to Thursday 3rd July for Appendicitis. I was transported to the hospital on the morning of Tuesday 1st July via ambulance. The paramedics who cared for me on this journey were punctual, caring and considerate and I cannot fault the care they gave me. I certainly felt in safe hands on my journey to the hospital. Upon arriving at A&E I was promptly seen by a nurse who was extremely efficient, professional and caring, ensuring I was as comfortable as possible and reassuring me. The Dr who also came to see me in A&E was also very professional and was able to clearly explain what he thought was causing my pain and what might be done about it- very helpful when you’re feeling quite worried about what is going on with your body! Later on that day, I was transferred to Ward 2 in the Old Building, and again received outstanding care from the nurses on this ward. The care and compassion they demonstrated really did help to make me feel better. I was very apprehensive about the prospect of staying overnight, but their professionalism certainly helped put me and my family at ease. On the afternoon of Wednesday 2nd I was taken to the anaesthetics room ready to undergo surgery. At this point I felt extremely nervous, but one of the anaesthetists very gently held my hand to reassure me while I fell asleep and I cannot tell you how much this meant to me; such a seemingly small gesture has a big impact when you’re feeling so vulnerable! When I came out of surgery I was transferred to Barrington ward and once again received exceptional care from the nurses on this ward until I was discharged on Thursday morning. We are constantly hearing horror stories about the care people receive on the NHS and I know this makes many people extremely apprehensive about going into hospital, and it is a real shame that the NHS as a whole is being ‘tarred with the same brush’ when there are nurses and Drs like the ones I had- they were excellent! I can honestly say I could not be more happy with the care I received at Musgrove. I am only sorry I cannot remember all of the names of those who treated me, but I would appreciate it very much if you could pass my thanks onto the necessary departments. Many thanks, Chloe
